It's official: the Provincial Council of North Brabant and the municipal councils of Heusden and Waalwijk have approved the additional funding for the Gebiedsontwikkeling Oostelijke Langstraat (GOL), which includes the redevelopment of the A59 motorway between 's Hertogenbosch and Waalwijk to improve accessibility and liveability on and around the motorway. With the budget now secured, the project can officially begin. BESIX and Mourik have been selected for the execution of the construction works and will now move into the next phase.
This marks a long-awaited step forward for the region in improving regional accessibility, strengthening nature and landscape, and creating space for housing and economic growth. GOL is a project of major social significance for the area between Waalwijk and ’s-Hertogenbosch in the south of the Netherlands.
The Mourik-BESIX consortium looks ahead to the execution phase with enthusiasm and confidence. In the coming months, the team will further develop the design, apply for permits, and prepare for construction. Preliminary works are expected to start in September 2025.
Thanks to close collaboration within the consortium and the extensive experience of both partners, we are committed to delivering quality, safety, sustainability, and minimal disruption to the surrounding communities.
After the summer, the province of North Brabant and Mourik-BESIX will host several information sessions in Heusden and Waalwijk. These events will inform local residents and stakeholders about the project timeline, planned works, and measures to limit inconvenience.
Together, we are building a resilient and future-ready Eastern Langstraat.
