The POST Rotterdam project, a transformative development blending heritage preservation with modern architectural ambition, has reached a major milestone: its topping out at an impressive 155 meters. This remarkable achievement symbolizes the project's steady progress and BESIX Nederland's commitment to building a lasting legacy in The Netherlands.
On Wednesday 28 May 2025, the milestone of reaching the highest point was celebrated extensively. The event brought together representatives from across the partnership, as well as members of the extended project team, to celebrate this symbolic achievement.
This moment marks the culmination of years of careful planning, technical precision, and the hard work of countless professionals and site crews. Representing BESIX at the event, Jan Van Steirteghem, Chief Operating Officer, underlined the significance of the achievement:
POST Rotterdam is a groundbreaking redevelopment of the historic post office in the heart of the city. Designed by ODA, in collaboration with Braaksma & Roos, on behalf of Omnam Investment Group, the project blends a century-old national monument with a modern tower, creating a unique architectural icon. The original post office, which survived bombing during World War II, is being transformed into a five-star boutique hotel with 238 luxury rooms. On top of it, the new residential tower will feature 305 apartments, including 102 for sale and 203 for rent.
At 155 meters tall, the tower of POST Rotterdam is a striking addition to Rotterdam’s skyline. Its façade, an engineering marvel, combines bespoke staggered arches and vertical columns made of glass fiber-reinforced concrete with an energy-efficient aluminium curtain wall. This design balances the grandeur of the original monument with a vision of Rotterdam’s future.
With the topping out of POST Rotterdam completed, the focus of the site team now shifts to the finalization of the façade and the interior finishing of the apartments. The first rental apartments are already fully finished and the concrete works have been completed. The complex façade is about halfway done.
