Foundations for R4WO – A Project Full of Complexity

As part of BESIX Group, Franki Foundations plays an active role within the Bravo4 consortium – consisting of BESIX, EPICo, I4B – The Belgian Infrastructure Fund, RID PPP, and Stadsbader – contributing to the complete transformation of the R4 West and East between Ghent and the Ghent port.

Reconstruction of the Ringvaart Bridge

Our teams are currently working on the reconstruction of the Ringvaart Bridge. The pile foundations for this new bridge rely on our specialized expertise.

The combination of large dimensions (piles 25 meters long, 610 mm in diameter, 760 mm drill tip), hard sand layers, and logistical constraints near the railway make this project particularly challenging. Efficiency during the temporary railway line interruptions is absolutely crucial.

Looking Ahead: Ground Anchors and Diaphragm Walls

Alongside the pile foundations, a test campaign for ground anchors is underway. And this is just the beginning: in the fall, our teams will also start working on the diaphragm walls for the Wondelgem tunnel.
