The Nexans Group is investing €90 million in this ambitious project, part of a wider European initiative to support the energy transition. The Charleroi plant will specialize in the production of XXL high-voltage cables. These cables play a crucial role in connecting offshore wind farms to the power grid, actively driving the expansion of renewable energy and the decarbonization of our societies.
This industrial investment in Charleroi is a strong example of how innovation, performance, and local development can go hand in hand, showcasing Wallonia’s strengths in the energy sector.
For this site, our expertise in deep foundations was put to the test to meet a major technical challenge:
Nearly 100 PCS piles were installed, including around 15 with a 1000 mm diameter — an exceptional size worth highlighting!
15 micropiles were also executed to adapt to the site’s specific geotechnical conditions, ensuring the future structures’ stability.
These works highlight our teams’ flexibility and technical mastery, capable of tackling complex constraints while meeting the tight deadlines of a large industrial project.
