The redevelopment of the Riverside Stand at Fulham Football Club will see an increase in capacity from 25,700 to 29,600 and enhance local amenities. The new stand will feature a new river wall a public riverside walk.
Access to the Hammersmith site was adjacent to the existing stand and had a restricted clearance that could only be achieved using a smaller rotary bored piling rig. Once into site, the piles were required to be installed beneath the existing stand within just 12m of headroom.
Martello were contracted by O'Keefe Construction to install 27no. 600mm diameter bearing piles to depths of up to 30m.
Utilising the bespoke MP6001 piling rig, Martello were able to complete the 600mm diameter piles beneath the existing stand within 12m of headroom. The remaining 750 & 900mm diameter piles were installed and once completed, a static load test was carried out to determine the bearing capacity of the deep foundations prior to the redevelopment of the Riverside Stand.
The MP6001 was best suited to this project due to its footprint being much smaller than conventional rigs.
